BATMAN '66/GREEN HORNET #1

(W) Kevin Smith, Ralph Garman (A) Ty Templeton

In 1967, television history was made when two masked crime fighters met in a historic crossover. Now, superstar filmmaker Kevin Smith and actor/comedian Ralph Garman join forces with artist Ty Templeton (BATMAN '66) to bring these two iconic characters and their famous partners together again. Set in the continuity of that earlier team-up, Batman, The Green Hornet, Robin and Kato must go up against a very different General (formerly Colonel) Gumm. What crime could be so deadly as to force these rivals to put aside their differences and join forces again? And what surprise does Gumm have up his sticky sleeve? Co-published with Dynamite Entertainment.

ZANADU RECOMMENDATIONS VIDEO FOR 3/6

After the onslaught of pop culture nerdom that was ECCC, the last thing on your mind is comics, but as we all know the best cure for a hangover is MORE alcohol, so with that in mind, Casey and Morgan bring you the best of the best this week in our special comedown edition of Zanadu hype!

While there was lots to choose from, we were blinded by the fluorescent raunchiness of SEX by Joe Casey; deafened by the rollicking rhythms of TANK GIRL by Jim Mahfood; rode the dark rails of Vasilis Lolos' LAST CALL; went all in on Jim McCann and Janet Lee's galactic gambling scheme in LOST VEGAS and fought tooth and nail with gothic vikings in HELHEIM by Cullen Bunn and Joelle Jones!

All this and a new weekly feature surprise!!

BATMAN: GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT TP (NEW ED)

(W) Brian Augustyn  (A) Mike Mignola

A new edition of the classic starring the Victorian-era!
Includes GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT and MASTER OF THE FUTURE, tales that pit The Dark Knight against Jack the Ripper and a death dealer from the skies over Gotham City!

To hell with the lynching that is bound to be coming my way, I'm going to say it... I wish Mignola's art still looked like this. I appreciate the spiffy tentacles and the ambiance that he creates with his current art style. His influence is inestimable, and deservedly so, but his art used to MOVE, it used to be actual SEQUENTIAL ART, and it was just as attractive as the stuff he does now. (It might have more to do with Russell's inks on this book than the majority of us would like to admit, but...) That all being said this is probably my favorite of all the Elseworlds that I've read. I love this book. recommended by erin.

ZANADU RECOMMENDATIONS VIDEO FOR 2/13

Join Dr. Love and his robot henchman, Morgan as they profess their adoration for the bounty of beautiful comics we have been graced with this week. Wolverine takes his team on an ill fated field trip; Bachalo and Bendis dish the hard reality of mutants on the front line of revolution; the Avengers become very hush hush; Vader, Luke and Leah wish they were as cool as Han Solo in Brian Wood's Star Wars; Hiroaki Samura takes you the the dusty streets of the old west; Tustomu Nihei proves he is a master of cyberpunk awesomeness and the genius of Alex Toth is, well, friggin' obvious.

If you live in the Seattle area, don't forget to join us tonight, Wednesday the 13th at 6:30 for our monthly meeting of all things comics! Hope to see you all there and have a happy new comic day!!!
