JUNE 3RD, 2017

It's time to celebrate 75 years of the most prominent and influential female super-hero to ever appear in the pages of comic books! Diana Prince, Wonder Woman to the world, has long been an icon of equality, strength and justice for both female and male fans for roughly seven decades. Standing shoulder to shoulder (or towering over, depending on how she's depicted) with every male super-hero in the DC universe, Wonder Woman is the crucial, third point of the DCU trinity that sets the example on how to be better person, no matter your race, creed or gender.

It is with this in mind that DC Comics has officially declared June 3rd as WONDER WOMAN DAY, complete with goodies for everyone! Tiaras, bracelets, free comics and more will be available to all customers on a first come, first serve basis. Whether you are stopping in on your way to see the Wonder Woman movie or just a long time WW fan who wants to show their love, stop into Zanadu Comics for this all day celebration of DC'S first lady! More info on our Facebook page.

Here are the free comics that we will have for Wonder Woman day. No purchase required. First come, first serve.

Let's face it, the world of comic books or "Graphic Novels" as they are referred to currently, is overwhelmingly impenetrable for a lot of people these days. The sheer volume of new titles that ship each week make it hard to remember previously published books or even something that came out last Wednesday, but have no fear, Zanadu is here to help you discover what you didn't know you needed in your collection! We have thousands of titles available, but these are a few of our favorite forgotten gems kicking around the store.

Here at Zanadu, we believe that Independent comics are the backbone of the comic book industry. Since 1975, Zanadu has provided a stage upon which the burgeoning local talent can perform through our consignment program and today our local and indy section is larger than ever. In fact, it may very well be the largest local comix section in the city, but hey, who's counting? All we know is that comic creators need all the help they can get because let's face it, they spend countless hours toiling in the darkness to bring forth some soul tormenting story that dwells within them for absolutely zero money and usually little to no acclaim, but where would the industry be today if not for the tireless efforts of the visionary creators who braved the hellish onslaught of personal and professional struggle? So get in on the ground floor of the next big thing in comics or just sample the local flavor, there is always something unique to find on the racks of Zanadu.

This week's spotlighted Seattle creator is MARK FALKEY, writer/artist/stapler of the one-man anthology AUTOFAC! A true holdover of the indie zine revolution, AUTOFAC tells raw tales of human folly spliced with a mutated metaphysicality worthy of Cronenberg. Unnerving, edgy, and all too human, the black and white ultra-DIY series is a real underground gem.

Mark's work can also be found online at auto-fac.blogspot.com, and he can be reached by email at mfalkey@gmail.com
