NEW INDY COMIX!!

THE REACH OF THE MIND #1

(W/A) Sam Bell

Like a deranged man driven to compulsions beyond his own control, Howard unearthed this artifact of the arcane from Seattle's premiere small press festival, Short Run, now in its third year. Direct from the UK, Sam Bell is a name that may not be on your radar now, but for anyone interested in the darkly surreal netherworlds of nightmares rendered with an all too familiar clarity, this book will be sure to engrave his name upon your consciousness!! Follow the downward spiral into the depths of darkness with this gorgeously illustrated Lovecraftian-esque comic!!

BATMAN: GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT TP (NEW ED)

(W) Brian Augustyn  (A) Mike Mignola

A new edition of the classic starring the Victorian-era!
Includes GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT and MASTER OF THE FUTURE, tales that pit The Dark Knight against Jack the Ripper and a death dealer from the skies over Gotham City!

To hell with the lynching that is bound to be coming my way, I'm going to say it... I wish Mignola's art still looked like this. I appreciate the spiffy tentacles and the ambiance that he creates with his current art style. His influence is inestimable, and deservedly so, but his art used to MOVE, it used to be actual SEQUENTIAL ART, and it was just as attractive as the stuff he does now. (It might have more to do with Russell's inks on this book than the majority of us would like to admit, but...) That all being said this is probably my favorite of all the Elseworlds that I've read. I love this book. recommended by erin.

CHANGE #2

(W) Ales Kot (A) Morgan Jeske

Have you ever lost someone?
What if the city you lived in your entire life, the city you loved with all of your soul, the city you were inextricably connected to - what if that city was about to die, and you were the only one who could possibly keep it alive?
Sonia and W-2 will do all it takes - but the horrors tear through the walls of reality to get at them.
Dreams are crushed. New facts appear. Old alliances fall apart.

Pills, pills and more pills!! After reading the first issue, it is clear that Ales Kot has taken more than his share of psychedelic substances, but somehow retained the ability to write believable, unique and interesting characters that leave you wondering how the hell these people will save the world, cause let me tell you, they are not what you would call hero material. Perhaps that is what I like best about this series, the fact that the fate of the world is left to people I can identify with--f*ckups. RECOMMENDED BY CASEY!
