THE COLLECTOR HC

(W/A) Sergio Toppi

WHY WE LOVE IT: The late Sergio Toppi remains one of the great master sequential artists whose work inspired a generation of illustrators and comic artists who followed him. The Collector is Toppi's longest-running original series, now translated into English
for the first time since its debut in 1984.
WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT: Toppi's breathtaking line work and composition will leave you staring at his pages for hours. While this oversized edition serves as much as an art book as a comic, the adventures of the globescouring, daredevil Collector will appeal to fans of Indiana Jones, Five Ghosts, or Doc Savage.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Far from the auction halls of the elite, The Collector seeks out rare and mysterious artifacts across the world. He is at home in the salons of Paris as he is in the jungles of Borneo. Set against the backdrop of late 19thcentury colonialism, The Collector is a delightful, swashbuckling adventure!

Holy effin hell on a stick, this is our ONE HUNDREDTH episode of CSSG, the best comics hype show on the interwebs!! If only he would shower...ah well, small battles. Regardless, yo--there are a crap ton of beautiful shiny comics just begging to be taken home by a loving comic nerd like YOU! Yes, you there, laddie!!
But in all seriousness, thank you so so so much to everyone who watches us run our mouths for 15 min every week and an even bigger thank you to those who actually try some of our suggestions! (Though we still love you if you don't.)
This one's a little long, but it's a double sized fist bump of awesomeness just waiting to explode!!

ZANADU COMICS PRESENTS...LADIES' NIGHT!!

Hey Ladies!
October 15th is Ladies' Night at Zanadu Comics. The event will start at 7:00 p.m. after regular business hours.

Why Ladies' Night?
Most women have never set foot inside a comic store. Their reasons are many and varied, but most of them revolve around the idea that comics are a guy thing. We all know that's not true. Comics are for everybody. So in hopes of dispelling the myth that comics are for boys, we are having this women only event.

When?
The event will take place on Wednesday, October 15th, at 7p.m. and will run until 9:00 p.m. The owner will be watching the door, but he will be the only male in the store. The guests, volunteers, and customers will all be women.

What's going on at the event?
There will be some snacks, some prizes, discounts and a whole lot of comic book talk. We want to hear about comics people love, comics people hate, and what there is to love about comics books as a medium.

We are also happy to say that some local female creators will be joining us.

Kelly Froh, comic creator (The Greatest, My Body is A Lemon, Samson) and co-organizer of the Short Run Comics & Arts Festival.

Eroyn Franklin, comic creator (Detained, Making Tide, For the Record I Know This is a Bad Idea) and co-organizer or Short Run Comics & Arts Festival.

Gina Siciliano, comic creator (Summertime, I Know What I Am).

G. Willow Wilson, comic creator (Air, Cairo, Ms. Marvel) and book author.

Zanadu Comics is located in Downtown Seattle, 1923 3rd Ave (between Stewart and Virginia Streets). (206) 443-1316 www.zanaducomics.com

JIM HENSON'S MUSICAL MONSTERS OF TURKEY HOLLOW HC

(W/A) Roger Langridge

WHY WE LOVE IT: After the success of Archaia's Eisner Award-winning graphic novel Jim Henson's Tale of Sand, we are proud to partner once again with The Jim Henson Company to bring to life another previously unknown piece of the Jim Henson Legacy. The only thing more exciting than finding the script for the project was securing the talents of the amazing Roger Langridge (writer and illustrator of the Eisner Award-winning The Muppet Show Comic Book and SNARKED) to adapt and illustrate the project! WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT: Eisner and Harvey Award winner Roger Langridge is the mastermind behind SNARKED and the beloved run of The Muppet Show comics, and now he gets to bring to life hilarious, never-before-seen puppet creations by Jim Henson in an oversized all-ages adventure. WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Turkey Hollow is a picturesque town where hundreds of years ago, unbeknownst to the citizens, a meteorite landed near a small brook on the outskirts of town. One Thanksgiving, while young Timmy Henderson practices his guitar, he's accompanied by strange, unearthly, musical sounds. That meteorite wasn't a rock at all but an egg holding seven furry, goofy monsters, each with a unique musical sound! After the initial shock, Timmy befriends the lovable creatures, who follow him all around Turkey Hollow. Not everyone takes a liking to the visitors, though, and it's up to Timmy to protect his new friends and save Thanksgiving!

Butterfly #1 Cover Art by Phil Noto

WHY WE LOVE IT: We've all spent hours glued to episodes of shows like True Detective
and House of Cards that explore deeply flawed and morally complex characters. In
BUTTERFLY, screenwriter Arash Amel (Grace of Monaco, Erased) brings that aesthetic
to comics and the espionage genre, exploring the true nature of people who devote their
lives to covert ops and the deceit, solitude, and violence that comes with it.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT: Marguerite Bennett has been making a name for herself with her
work on Lois Lane, Batgirl, and Earth 2: World's End and we can't wait for fans to see
how she explores the dark world of spycraft. There's no one better in the espionage genre
than Antonio Fuso, the artist behind the critically acclaimed run of GI Joe: Cobra. It's the
perfect creative team for a morally complex story of violence and family set in the web of a
global conspiracy.
