QUANTUM AND WOODY #1

(W) James Asmus (A) Tom Fowler

Writer James Asmus (Thief of Thieves, Gambit, The End Times of Bram & Ben) and artist Tom Fowler (Venom, Hulk: Season One) punt the world's worst superhero team headfirst into the Valiant Universe! Once upon a time, Eric and Woody Henderson were inseparable. Adopted brothers. Best friends. Brilliant minds. Years later, they are estranged siblings, petty rivals, and washed-up failures. But when their father's murder leads them into the throes of a life-altering scientific accident, Eric and Woody will find themselves with a whole new purpose - and a perfectly legitimate reason to wear costumes and fight crime. Go big or go home, folks! Quantum and Woody are coming! And the action-packed, zeitgeist-shredding exploitation stunt comic you demanded is here at last. (And, yes, there will be a goat too. Eventually.)

Astro City #1 Cvr A by Alex Ross

I am so very excited. There are some DC and Marvel superhero books that I love, but this superhero title is my favorite. Busiek's writing never misses. Some people that I've talked to are a little put off by the art, but if you read the book, there is no other art that would have worked with the stories being told. It's Golden Age perfection in a Silver Age book. Do yourself a favor and check this title out. Everyone's superhero soul could do with a cleansing scrub-down every once in awhile, this is the book that can get that done.

MUDMAN #6

(W/A) Paul Grist

When his mud powers go out of control, Owen Craig has no choice but to turn to the mysterious Mister Gull for help. But just because it's the only choice doesn't make it a good one.

After a short break, Paul Grist, master of the sequential arrangement of framed boxes returns with his brilliant and pure love letter to super-hero books of the past! Mudman reads like early Ditko Spider-Man complete with reluctant teenage angst ridden heroes, weird half naked ocean powered villains, mysterious mentors dressed as pirates and a gorgeous girl next door all wrapped up in a perfectly crafted package of pure fun. This is a creator who has clearly found exactly what he wants to do and is having a blast drawing this book for other people to enjoy! RECOMMENDED BY CASEY!

DEATHMATCH #1

(W) Paul Jenkins (A) Carlos Magno

THE SUPERHERO BATTLE ROYALE YOU CAN'T GET FROM MARVEL OR DC! A powerful and mysterious supervillain has imprisoned the world's greatest superheroes, forcing them to fight to the death until there is but one victor. It's kill or be killed as we settle the score on all those hypothetical superhero match-ups in the ultimate DEATHMATCH.

Written by industry legend Paul Jenkins (SENTRY, INHUMANS) and drawn by comics superstar Carlos Magno (PLANET OF THE APES, TRANSFORMERS), DEATHMATCH is a dark, psychological deconstruction of the superhero genre that can't be missed.
