ALIEN: THE ILLUSTRATED STORY TP

(W) Archie Goodwin (A) Walter Simonson

Two of comics' greatest talents-Walt Simonson and Archie Goodwin - joined forces to bring Ridley Scott's epic Alien motion picture to the comic book page. This brand new edition (released to coincide with Scott's latest sci fi epic Prometheus) has been meticulously restored from original artwork in Walt Simonson's studio. Includes scenes removed from the movie, directed by Ridley Scott. Carefully restored and remastered from the original artwork.

SIMONSON!! GOODWIN!! Produced around the same time as their industry shaking run on MANHUNTER, this was the first comic adaptation of Ridley Scott's groundbreaking, sci-fi horror masterpiece and remains my favorite Alien comic of all time. Out of print for almost 20 years, this is one of those rare instances where a movie is so perfectly translated to another medium that you'd be a fool to pass up this restored and remastered edition of a true classic. RECOMMENDED BY CASEY!

JUDAS COIN HC

(W/A) Walter Simonson

This centuries-spanning original graphic novel from legendary writer/artist WALTER SIMONSON shows how one of the silver coins Judas was paid to betray Jesus has had an impact on the DC Universe, with chapters starring THE GOLDEN GLADIATOR (73 A.D.), THE VIKING PRINCE (1000 A.D.), CAPTAIN FEAR (1720) and BAT LASH (1881). In the centerpiece of the book BATMAN faces TWO-FACE in an epic, present-day battle before the story blasts into the future for a final chapter set in the year 2087 starring MANHUNTER 2070!

A time-spanning tapestry of fate and fortune, woven by industry legend Walt Simonson takes you from 73 A.D. to the not-too distant future of 2087 on the trail of the Judas Coin! With stops along the way in the old west, modern Gotham, and everywhere in between! RECOMMENDED BY MORGAN!

THE VICTORIES #2

(W/A) Michael Avon Oeming

With their city drowning in the weird drug known as Float, the Victories bust a major operation, only to have their leader's mind scanned by an evil psychic who plans to use this knowledge for the superhero team's destruction.

Take a stroll down the dark alley of Super-Heroics in Oeming's new, highly stylized and dynamic mini series from Image comics. Filled with over the top dialogue, foul acts of gore and almost as many expletives as a Garth Ennis comic, this is sure to appeal to fans of Mark Millar, the Boys and anyone else hankering for some serious comic book violence!! RECOMMENDED BY PERRY!

STUMPTOWN VOLUME 2 SIGNING!!

We're pleased to announce that the artist of Stumptown, Matthew Southworth, will be signing next Wednesday 9/12/12, from 3-6 PM.

For those who don't know, Stumptown is a fantastic crime book written by Greg R
ucka and based in Portland featuring Dex Parios, a female private investigator with a gambling problem. It takes place in the same continuity as Rucka's novel Fistful of Rain and Atticus Kodiak novels. Truly one of the best female led crime books on the market, hell, one of THE best crime books on the shelves period. The art is super moody, chock full of noir goodness and extensively researched locations that any Portland native will recognize.

Hope to see you all next Wednesday 9/12, from 3-6PM!!

HAWKEYE #2

(W) Matt Fraction (A) David Aja

What you need to know: Fraction. Aja. Hawkeye. Kate Bishop. Cars. Guns Stealing from the rich never looked so good. Get. Now.

I'll start with the fact that I'm not a Hawkeye fan. Dunno why, but he just never really appealed to me. That being said, this is the BEST new Marvel series since Waid and Martin on DD a little over a year ago. This is the kind of book that I want to see more of from Marvel; quiet, non connected stories from the dark corners of the universe that peek into the daily lives of these "gods" who are still very much human. It's like Fraction was able to take his Image style of writing and adapt it to the Marvel way, then have Aja draw the living SH*T out of it! BUY THIS DAMN BOOK!!! BUY IT!!! RECOMMENDED BY CASEY!

NEW LOCAL COMIX!!

We've got a batch of new stuff from recently relocated Seattleite, James the Stanton!! A delightful mix of psychedelic strangeness and some seriously bad ass self printing, these three books all have a very dream like quality to them that sticks with you long after reading.

TAKLIMA

(W/A) James the Stanton

This book is very different from everything else that I've worked on, I drew it in a realism style so I hope nobody minds a break from the cartoons for a few pages. It tells the story of a strange and spooky dream that a friend of mine had. I spent a lot of time working on these pages last Winter, hope you like it... Now back to the toonz! Each Book Features an Original Hand Printed Cover.

BEAST BEGAT BEAST

(W/A) James the Stanton

Comics about lustful leviathans and the re-zoning of sea serpent maps. Each Book Features an Original Hand Printed Cover.

DEFENDERS #10

(W) Matt Fraction  (A) jamie McKelvie

LETS'S GET SMALL! The long-awaited arrival of ANT-MAN hits THE DEFENDERS! With the nature and purpose of the Concordance engines revealed, the team must act fast to SAVE EVERYTHING!
How can you save the world when you can't tell anyone it's about to end?

I was totally resistant to this title when it started, but this is probably the best thing Fraction has written for Marvel next to Iron Fist. Join this band of time traveling outcasts as they battle the Prince of Orphans to protect the very fabric of reality itself! Plus, it's the closest we'll ever get to a Fraction Dr. Strange book...Shut the engines down and prepare for reentry into weird! RECOMMENDED BY CASEY!

DEBRIS #2

(W) Kurtis J. Wiebe  (A) Riley Rossmo

A deadly junk storm forces Maya to take refuge in an ancient, forgotten place where she soon discovers that she's not alone in the land beyond the safe zone.

After the pastel whirlwind of destruction that was the first issue, Debris is back, leading the charge of the new 'junk punk' sub genre that is beginning to hit the stands. Maya, the chosen protector of a small band of surviving humans, must battle against Miyazaki-esque monsters culled from the leftovers of our past mistakes and triumphs that threaten to erase our species completely. Certainly the tightest art yet from fan-favorite, Riley Rossmo, this a great sci-fi/fantasy adventure book for anyone currently enjoying Prophet or Planetoid and in need another fix! Pit against the horrors of war, Peter and company must learn the harsh lessons of survival while still holding on to what little childlike magic that still exists in their lives.
