BATMAN: WHITE KNIGHT #1

(W/A/CA) Sean Murphy

In a world where Batman has gone too far, The Joker must save Gotham City.
He's been called a maniac, a killer and the "Clown Prince of Crime" but "white knight"? Never. Until now...
Set in a world where the Joker is cured of his insanity and homicidal tendencies, The Joker, now known as "Jack," sets about trying to right his wrongs. First he plans to reconcile with Harley Quinn, and then he'll try to save the city from the one person who he thinks is truly Gotham City's greatest villain: Batman!
Superstar writer and artist Sean Murphy (PUNK ROCK JESUS, THE WAKE) presents a seven-issue miniseries of a twisted Gotham City with a massive cast of heroes and villains that, at its heart, is a tragic story of a hero and a villain: Batman and The Joker. But which is the hero-and which the villain?

ZANADU RECOMMENDATIONS VIDEO FOR 1/2

With Morgan in jail after a New Year's escapade involving absinthe, a dock worker named Candy and bootleg My Little Ponies, Sam, our venerable Video Monkey has reluctantly agreed to come on this side of the camera and ramble with Casey about the first new comics of 2013! We're starting this year off right with Space Godzilla, the last issue of Punk Rock Jesus, Fatale, more Hickman Avengers, female Prophet clones and much more!!! While everyone may have a different cure for the New Year hangover blues, here at Zanadu, we know there is nothing more soothing than 20 pages of four color nonsense!!

PUNK ROCK JESUS #1

(W/A) Sean Murhpy

The newest reality show hit has the unlikeliest celebrity of all in this new black and white miniseries from writer/artist Sean Murphy (JOE THE BARBARIAN, Off Road)!
J2, the TV series starring a clone of Jesus Christ, causes chaos across a near-future United States in PUNK ROCK JESUS, a new miniseries written and drawn by Sean Murphy, the acclaimed illustrator of JOE THE BARBARIAN and AMERICAN VAMPIRE: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST.
J2 causes outrage and adulation. Religious zealots either love or hate the show, angry politicians worry about its influence on the nation, and members of the scientific community fear the implications of cloning a human being at all - let alone the Son of God. And what effect will this all have on Gwen, the young woman who is selected, through an American Idol-style process, to be the mother of the new Messiah?
All this leads to the hiring of Thomas McKael, the clone's bodyguard and a former IRA operative with a turbulent past who must protect the new Messiah - a baby who captivates the world, but grows up to become an angry teenager.

Sean Murphy draws amazing boots. I know this has nothing to do with the comic, but when you read it, look at the boots. Amazing, I tell you. Anyway, this is the long awaited return of Murphy as both writer and artist, a task he has not undertaken since his indie hit, OFF ROAD. Presented in stark black, white and ink splatter, Murphy tackles the always enjoyable subject of religion and its current implications in our instant techo-gratification reality show society. Just how long until things fly off the rails? Probably page 3, but we'll just have to wait and see... RECOMMENDED BY CASEY!!
