UNDERTOW #1

(W) Steve Orlando (A) Artyom Trakhanov

Atlantis is the world superpower, and Redum Anshargal is its worst enemy. If you want to break free of the system, he can offer you a place at his side, exploring the wild surface world in his watertight city barge The Deliverer. He and his hostage-protege Ukinnu Alal hunt the Amphibian, a legend that could be the key to an air-breathing life on land. But as they become the hunted, can Anshargal's team survive long enough to turn the tables on the godlike beast they set out for?

A brand new pulp monster adventure with Ray Harryhausen at its heart and a look at Atlantis like never before from the up-and-coming team of writer STEVE ORLANDO (Mystery in Space) and artist ARTYOM TRAKHANOV.

undertow.jpg

Clearly Snyder and Murphy's "The Wake," has opened up the recently untouched realm of underwater adventure as Image throws its hat into the murky world mashup of Waterworld, Ray Harryhausen, Aqua Leung, and a dash of Namor for good measure. Featuring some great fantasy-pulp art from newcomer Artyom Trakhanov, this book looks to begin a rollicking ride across the tumultuous waves of evolution and mystery into the great unknown!!

LOKI: RAGNAROK AND ROLL #1

WHY WE LOVE IT: Up-and-coming writer Eric Esquivel first caught our attention with Thor: The Unkillable Thunder Christ, and wowed us with his work on FREELANCERS. When he told us he wanted to bring those sensibilities to the trickster god Loki, we had to say 'Yes!' Pairing him with FANBOYS VS ZOMBIES artist Jerry Gaylord sealed the deal. WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT: Loki steps out of the shadow cast by his thunderous brother as Norse mythology crosses over with the only thing on Earth as wild and crazy...rock and roll! HAWKEN: MELEE #5

(W/A) Nathan Fox

In this final issue, get ready for fastpaced, madcap action as a savant mechanical genius is chased by a cabal of corporate gangsters who are after her hightech secret weapon designs! Featuring a story and art by Nathan Fox (DMZ) and a cover by Bengal!

hawken.jpg

Once again I am drawn into the strange world of Hawken due to an amazing artist being allowed to write and draw what is sure to be an full boar issue of cybernetic action! Nathan Fox, the genius artist behind the bio-punk masterpiece, 'Fluorescent Black,' brings his pope-esque style to the world of mechs and corporate espionage, but with an injection of adrenaline, heart and roughness that has been missing from Pope's books for the past few years. Fox is one of the best guys not doing regular comix and I for one am overjoyed to see him come back to the fold!
