While DC and Marvel may pay the bills, big name creators like Becky Cloonan, Karl Kerschl, and Andy Belanger have banded together to create Lounak Distribution; a collection of high quality, self published books straight from the artist to YOU. As expected, we here at Zanadu jumped on the chance to bring these titles to our customers and hope that people will discover the lesser known works of these fantastic artists!
ABOMINABLE CHARLES CHRISTOPHER VOL 1
(W/A) Karl Kerschl
Karl Kerschl, artist of The Flash, Teen Titans: Year One, and Assassin's Creed, introduced his webcomic 'The Abominable Charles Christopher' in 2007, following the adventures of a dim-witted sasquatch through a world of colourful animal characters. In the few years since its release it has won several awards, including the Eisner Award in 2011 for Best Webcomic. Rather than follow a traditional publishing model, Karl decided to self-publish a hardcover edition of the first chapter, which sold out almost immediately.

Now that same book has been reprinted in a beautiful softcover edition which we are excited to offer to retailers. Featuring a new painted and spot-glossed cover, this family-friendy book will be right at home on store shelves in the company of comics such as Bone and Mouse Guard.

I'm not sure of the best way to describe The Abominable Charles Christopher. To say it's like an unholy mash-up of Walt Kelly, Jeff Smith and Sumerian Mythology is true, but it misses the point completely. It is its own thing, and it does what comics do best: make a world and draw you into it."

WOLVES
(W/A) Becky Cloonan
The critically acclaimed short story that sold out of it's initial print-run of 1,000 in just two months is back in stock! It also ships with a free WOLVES bookmark, while supplies last.

As a lone hunter tracks an elusive beast through the forest, he reflects on his life and past love through a series of flashbacks, bringing the story to a climax that is as romantic as it is violent. This powerful mini-comic lends itself to multiple read-throughs, never giving concrete answers but (like the best enigmatic endings) leaves your own conclusions satisfying.

MIRE
(W/A) Becky Cloonan
The much anticipated follow-up to 2011's WOLVES, THE MIRE is a self-contained story set on the eve of battle, when a humble squire is given the task of delivering a letter to a decomposing castle in a swamp. Met with mysterious apparitions, he slowly unveils the truth about why he was sent there, as his past is re-written over the course of twenty two pages.
