WARLOCK BY JIM STARLIN TP

(W/A) Jim Starlin

At '70s Marvel, no one mastered the startling scope and high-concept complexity of cosmic adventure like Jim Starlin! And his work on Adam Warlock set the tone for star-spanning spectacle that is considered a high-water mark to this day. Starlin evolved Warlock to the next level, imbuing the character with the inner demons of a man-god on the brink of insanity. Forced to confront an evil version of himself and the nihilistic menace Thanos, Warlock's conflicts weren't just knuckle-grinding throw-downs - they were epic, existential struggles for his very soul. Featuring the first-ever assembling of the Infinity Gems; the debuts of Gamora and Pip the Troll; and an all-out struggle to save the universe joined by the Avengers, Captain Marvel and Spider-Man! Collecting STRANGE TALES (1951) #178-181, WARLOCK (1972) #9-15, AVENGERS ANNUAL #7 and MARVEL TWO-IN-ONE ANNUAL #2.

Ok, so I talked a lotta shit about Jim Starlin for years and years, but that was before I discovered Warlock. True, he may be riffing off of Kirby and Druillet, but DAMN if this wasn't one of the most epic space action dramas I've ever read!! Themes of duality, the consequences of war and the value of a soul follow Warlock as he treks from one end of the galaxy in search of his deadliest foe--MAGUS! Drop a tab and get ready to be transported to the infinite reaches of the stars--70's style!!

THE HARTLEPOOL MONKEY HC

(W) Wilfred Lupano (A) Jeremie Moreau

1814, near the little village of Hartlepool England, a war-ship in the Napoleonic fleet sinks. Amid the wreckage, fishermen discover a survivor: a monkey dressed in full military regalia, the mascot of the shipwrecked French vessel. The people of Hartlepool despised all Frenchmen and, though they have never seen a Frenchmen - or a monkey for that matter, the ape unfortunatly found himself court martialled. Inspired by the famous legend of the Hartlepool monkey, this is a tragi-comic fable of war and jingoism, of xenophobia and ignorance and of the glimmering of enlightenment.

DEADLY CLASS #1

(W) Rick Remender (A) Wesley Craig

It's 1987. Marcus Lopez hates school. His grades suck. He has no money. The jocks are hassling his friends. He can't focus in class, thanks to his mind constantly drifting to the stunning girl in the front row and the Dag Nasty show he has tickets to. But the jocks are the children of Joseph Stalin's top assassin, the teachers are members of an ancient league of assassins, the class he's failing is "Dismemberment 101," and his crush, a member of the most notorious crime syndicate in Japan, has a double-digit body count.

Welcome to the most brutal high school on Earth, where the world's top crime families send the next generation of assassins to be trained. Murder is an art. Killing is a craft. At King's Dominion High School for the Deadly Arts, the dagger in your back isn't always metaphorical, nor is your fellow classmates' poison.

Join writer RICK REMENDER with rising star WESLEY CRAIG (Batman) and legendary colorist LEE LOUGHRIDGE (Fear Agent) to reminisce about the mid-1980s underground through the eyes of the most damaged and dangerous teenagers on Earth.
