Baxter building think tank member, Sue Storm's younger brother, Johnny Storm, was transformed into the flame-generating Human Torch when an experiment was altered by Victor Van Damme. As a result, Johnny, his sister, Sue's boyfriend Reed Richards, and Reed's friend Ben Grimm had their genetic structures scrambled in an attempt to travel to the mysterious parallel universe known as the N-Zone.
